The Fund will provide grants of between €10,000 and €300,000 for the upgrade and refurbishment of community centres in both urban and rural areas

The funding can be used for minor works and ICT

THE Minor Works and ICT grant funding will see €2.8 million allocated to schools in the city and county.

Fine Gael TD Patrick O'Donovan said: “This funding demonstrates Fine Gael's commitment to supporting schools in Limerick and ensure that school leaders can deliver the best possible learning environment for children.”

This is part of national funding of €65 million.

A standardised payment period also means that this will now be incorporated into the annual grants payments calendar for schools.

This will allow schools to plan ahead.

Minister Patrick O'Donovan said: “With the world around us changing rapidly, it is vital that schools can instil students with the skills they need to reach their full potential in our modern society.

“This ICT funding will empower schools in Limerick to harness the opportunities that technology presents, and to support children and young people to become competent, critically engaged learners."
