Limerick woman gives her account of what it’s like creating for OnlyFans

IN A Shannonside café in Limerick city, Lisa Marie, or Kimbo Bimbo as her followers know her, discusses her life in the world of adult content creation as every day she gets paid by patrons to perform sexual acts, through a subscription-only based website called OnlyFans.
Having recently gone semi-viral after conveying her hopes for her OnlyFans move, Lisa Marie, who is from the outskirts of Limerick city, sat down with the Limerick Leader before her move to the UK and discussed the whys and whynots of her x-rated career.
Kimbo Bimbo, an alias conjured up by an industry friend, was born of the word “bimbo” which typically has a negative connotation, denoting someone’s unintelligence. Lisa Marie almost leans into this pretence in presentation, but the girl herself most certainly does not give off an inane air in person. The creator reveals that she spends her time making content for social media, TikTok and of course her OnlyFans page.
Evenings are spent replying to messages from her fans. With such a busy schedule, even on days where she wants to take time to herself, she admits that the pressure to keep up with creating can be overwhelming. “It is all effort,” she starts.
With fears that her following will dwindle without perpetual lingerie shots, she adds, “I do this for my brand and I post every day to keep that up.”
The work involves ‘collaborations’. And there is red tape involved for her safety and others.
In porn, when it comes to sexually transmitted infections, she says that many people do not realise “you need to get tested every 28-30 days”, and “you cannot collaborate with anyone without a cert that is in date.”
She thinks that uneducation on the subject is a big issue and leads to online hate.
Very different to her erotic and vivacious on-screen persona, Lisa Marie admits that she is not the same when the camera is off. “I actually have extremely bad anxiety,” she shared. “There are times where I can’t even walk to the shops, I would wait until it was dark to go out.”
In a way, she agrees that this life can now give her an outlet where she can be a version of herself who does not always feel debilitated by her anxieties.
With that being said, this job is certainly not for the faint hearted, as she highlights the need for a “thick skin” to be in this industry.
After previously being published on another news site, the soon-to-be 24-year-old received much online backlash. “I wanted to be in the paper,” she admitted, but “from six or seven in the morning people were commenting hate on [the article],” she revealed. In disbelief, she asks herself how a person could verbally degrade a stranger for what she feels is no good reason. “When you open your eyes in the morning, is all that comes out - just the urge to abuse someone?” she says of her antagonists.
Since then, the hate has snowballed and affected her personal life. Lisa Marie believes that aside from the online antagonism, what bothers her more is the reactions she gets while walking down the street in Limerick. “Not too long ago I was walking home and two cars were parked across the road,” she started. “The people inside were agressively roaring my name and beeping the horn.” After pausing for composure she added, “I have a good sense of humour but my heart was racing. I genuinely thought someone was going to jump out of that car and attack me. I was terrified.”
Many will be wondering why Lisa Marie has decided on this career path, or why she has no adverse feelings, morally or otherwise, towards being an adult film star. Lisa Marie candidly, admits that due to personal troubles as a child, she has been oversexualising herself since she was very young, and since then has no major feelings, poor or positive, towards this lifestyle. “Mentally it f****ed me up,” she stated. “Now, sex means nothing to me. Making love is not intimate, and that’s why I have no problem doing what I’m doing. It’s like working behind a deli counter, I have no feeling towards it.”
Before devoting herself completely to OnlyFans, she once stripped at a club in Cork. At the time, she said, “I liked it because I had the power over men. I was in control for once, because I was never in control before.” From her point of view, she believes OnlyFans to be a much safer environment to do her work, admitting that “in the club there was too much alcohol and too much drugs,” and that wasn’t a lifestyle she wanted to entertain any longer.
As far as the future goes, Lisa Marie has decided to leave Limerick for Manchester where she now hopes to make a name for herself. With the chance to make upwards of €10,000 a month in her line of work, Lisa aims to take advantage of this for her future. “I want to own my own business,” she excitedly exclaimed. “At the moment, people see me as a stupid girl, but I want to build myself and my brand for the better.”
