Masked man tries to open doors in Limerick housing estate in middle of night
A garda spokesperson said they are investigating a number of burglaries
A PHOTO of a masked man allegedly trying to open doors in the early hours of the morning has been shared online.
The Limerick Leader was contacted by a concerned local in Castleconnell to share the photo and warn others that this individual has been in their area.
The timestamp on the doorbell camera is 4.03am on January 22. The man has his face covered by a mask and a beanie hat pulled right down above his eyes.
A garda spokesperson said they are investigating a number of burglaries that were reported in the Castlerock and Newgarden, Lisnagry areas of Castleconnell.
“The incidents occurred overnight on Wednesday, January 22. The investigation is ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.
They added that in relation to the crimes in Newgarden, Lisnagry, “entry was gained, unfortunately, through unlocked backdoors”.
“The keys of cars and the actual cars were taken. The cars were subsequently recovered,” said the garda spokesperson.
They said criminals do try car doors and house windows and doors for an easy way in.
“Do not give them the opportunity, ensure your home and car are well secured,” say gardai.
