MEP and soon-to-be father in-law praises 'esteemed' Limerick hurler

The popular couple are set to be wed next weekend
POLITICIAN Barry Cowen has been singing the praises of his soon-to-be son-in-law as far away as Brussels!
But his attentive audience didn’t need much convincing!
The Fianna Fáil MEP for the Midlands-North-West constituency shared a video on social media of him telling the Glin Active Retirement group all about the man his daughter is set to marry next week.
Artist Gemma Cowen is engaged to All-Ireland winning Limerick hurler William O’Donoghue, with the couple set to say ‘I do’ next week at the stunning Cashel Palace in Tipperary.
It has been a year to remember for the Na Piarsaigh clubman, having lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup at Croke Park only a few months ago.
Mr Cowen told the members of Glin Active Retirement group in Brussels all about his daughter marrying the Limerick man next week, adding that the groom is “one of their esteemed hurlers”.
This was met with approval by all those gathered.
“You’re a popular man in Brussels amongst the Glin Active Retirement group this morning,” Mr Cowen said, tagging his future son-in-law.
All-star hurler William and artist Gemma are in the middle of a very busy social season - they were in Portugal celebrating the nuptials of William’s Limerick teammate Gearoid Hegarty in August, and will be attending the weddings of fellow teammates Tom Morrissey and David Reidy in the coming months.
On top of his busy social life, William is in the middle of the busy club hurling season, with his club guaranteed to make the county quarter-final.
