Nando's issues update on plans for new Limerick restaurant

MORE than 40 new jobs have been created as international chicken restaurant Nando's gears up to open in Limerick.
Representatives of the company confirmed its first store in Limerick will open in the Crescent Shopping Centre in Dooradoyle from this Wednesday at 11:30am.
Founded in South Africa, the popular chain specialises in Portuguese flame-grilled peri-peri style chicken.
The new restaurant will seat 137 people in total, and will operate out of a unit near Kentucky Fried Chicken, Shake Dog and opposite the Omniplex cinema.
General manager of the Limerick restaurant Kiara Appenah said: "We are thrilled to be opening at Limerick Crescent! Situated within Limerick's vibrant hub for retail, leisure, and culture, this space is truly exceptional. We are looking forward to extending a warm welcome to all our new customers."
Nando’s restaurant will be open from 11:30am – 10:00pm seven days a week.
Limerick Live first revealed plans for the new Nando's restaurant in 2019. At the time, it was anticipated it would open in the summer of 2020. But the onset of Covid-19 and the near two-year disruption to the economy put paid to these plans.
it was granted planning permission earlier this summer to open the restaurant in the shopping centre.
Nando's first opened in Ireland in 2008, and by September 2011 employed over 200 people across six restaurants in Dublin, Cork and Belfast. It now has 21 outlets across the island, with Newbridge in Co Kildare the only branch currently outside Dublin and Cork. Globally, it has a presence in five continents.
It's the second boost in a day for Crescent Shopping Centre, with Krispy Kreme donuts also announcing plans to open a new outlet by the end of the year.
