Newly-formed youth orchestra to play concert in Limerick
A NEWLY-FORMED orchestra is to play its first concert right here in Limerick this weekend.
University Concert Hall (UCH) at University of Limerick will play host to the Adult Youth Orchestra of Ireland's inaugural performance at 7.30pm this Sunday evening.
The group is the brainchild of founder Barbara Dowling.
It was born after a gap, nationally, for a symphony orchestra was identified.
It's believed the group is the first of its kind across the island of Ireland.
Tickets for Sunday night cost from €15, and are available by clicking here
Sunday night's programme will include a Romeo and Juliet fantasy overture inspired by composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
On top of this, there will be pieces from Sergei Rachmaninoff and Felix Mendelssohn.
The band will be conducted by Ronan O'Reilly.
