Northern Lights captured at Limerick school during sleepout in aid of Focus Ireland

The Aurora borealis was visible across the country last night
A STUNNING image of the Northern Lights was captured last night by Teacher Jason Murphy on the grounds of Scoil Pól, Kilfinane.
The photo was taken around 10.30pm on Thursday, October 10 whilst around 98 Transition Year students were taking part in the annual Shine a Light Sleepout in aid of Focus Ireland.
Teacher Sarah Collins said they were lucky to get the photo during the event organised by Transition Year Coordinators Susan Lowe and Jason Murphy and that the students were "delighted."
She added that it was great that the students didn't have their own phones at the time and said they're blessed that the school is located at the bottom of the Ballyhoura Mountains. "I think these photos would be better because they were just made appreciate it. They were present in the moment."
There were a group of 12 teachers volunteering on the night as well as Sr Patricia Coughlan who accompanied the group on their sleepout.
The school does a lot of fundraising and Ms Collins commented that it was nice that "the Northern Lights tied into such a wonderful fundraiser."
