THE ‘MORE than Running’ parkrun campaign has been officially launched by VHI, emphasising the potential health benefits not only for the Limerick participants but also for Limerick volunteers.

Parkruns and junior parkruns are weekly, timed 5km and 2km runs every Saturday morning in local communities across the Treaty county.

Aimed at motivating Limerick residents to become volunteers at their local parkruns, a recent survey conducted by Vhi among parkrun participants found that 93% of respondents reported improved health and well-being from volunteering at parkrun, and that nearly half (49%) saw it as an opportunity to meet new people.

In partnership with VHI are prominent figures including businesswoman Aimee Connolly, Olympian David Gillick, and Vhi Clinical Psychologist Dr. Lydia Mackeogh.
