Participation at heart of strategic plan to ensure 'all voices are heard'

PUBLIC Participation Network Limerick (PPNL) has launched a five-year strategic plan to ensure that the voices of all member groups are heard.
This strategy will guide the priorities, vision and work plans of Public Participation Network Limerick in the years to come and increase their influence in policy decisions at local government level.
The vision of PPNL is that it will remain an effective link through which Limerick City and County Council connects with the community and voluntary sector and vice versa, and a route for member groups to receive information regarding capacity building, funding, and consultation opportunities.
Launching the plan, Seamus O’ Connor, senior social worker, community development at Limerick City and County Council said: “I congratulate PPNL on the development of their strategic p‘lan and acknowledge the important work completed in the community / voluntary and environmental sector in Limerick.”
Current PPNL facilitator Patrick Fitzgerald added: “PPN Limerick represents 200 member groups across the community, social inclusion and environmental sectors in Limerick city and county.
“This strategic plan lays out PPNL’s commitment to our guiding principles of participation, good governance and inclusivity,” he said.
Lorraine Broderick, PPNL resource worker said: “This strategic plan will be an essential reference for myself and the secretariat going forward. We consulted extensively with our member groups during its development and look forward to having a robust document supporting us in our planning of activities and supporting our representatives sitting on council committees.”
