Ryanair announces new route from Shannon to popular European destination

Commencing on March 28 2027, the service between Shannon and Milan Bergamo will operate twice weekly
SHANNON Airport has welcomed Ryanair's announcement that it is to launch a new route serving Milan Bergamo, strengthening connectivity between the region and Italy.
Commencing on March 28 2027, the service will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The route is expected to generate an estimated 25,000 additional seats as part of Shannon Airport's Summer 2027 programme, supporting inbound tourism and regional economic activity.
Located in one of Europe's most popular regions for both leisure and business travellers, Milan Bergamo provides convenient access to Milan, the Italian Lakes and the wider Lombardy area.
Welcoming the announcement, Ray O'Driscoll, CEO of The Shannon Airport Group, said: "Ryanair's decision to introduce Milan Bergamo is another strong vote of confidence in Shannon Airport and the growing demand for international travel across our region. Coming on the back of our strongest route programme in 17 years, this new service further strengthens our European network and reinforces Shannon's position as a key gateway for the West of Ireland.
“The addition of Milan Bergamo not only provides greater choice for passengers, but also creates new opportunities to grow inbound tourism, business travel and economic links between Ireland and one of Europe's most important regions. We look forward to working with Ryanair to build on this momentum."
Ryanair’s Director of Communications, Jade Kirwan, commented: “Although we have not yet launched our full Summer 2027 schedule, Ryanair is pleased to give our Irish customers a sneak peek at what new routes we will be offering. With that, we're pleased to reveal our new Summer 2027 route from Shannon to Milan Bergamo, offering our customers in the Mid-West a direct, low-fare connection to one of Italy's most exciting destinations.
“Milan is renowned for its unique blend of culture, history, fashion, food, and sport, while Bergamo's location provides easy access to the stunning Italian Lakes region, making it an ideal choice for everything from a weekend city break to a long summer holiday.
Commenting on the announcement of the new route, Declan Power, Head of Aviation Development at Shannon Airport said: “Milan Bergamo becomes the latest addition to Shannon Airport's expanding route network, building on the success of a record 2026 programme that featured 40 services. The new route further enhances Shannon's Italian offering, joining existing Ryanair services to Rome, Naples and Turin. We are confident this route will prove popular with both leisure and business travellers and further enhance Shannon's international connectivity.”
