SOCIAL CARE STUDENTS MIGHT NOT BE ALLOWED GRADUATE DUE TO COVID-19

I’m a final year student in Social Care in AIT. We students aren’t being treated fairly. We are suppose to commence placement on March 15. until June 25. however Social care sectors cannot take us due to Covid-19 as their services care for vulnerable people.
We have being informed that if we cannot complete the remaining placement hours (15 weeks, 35 hours a week) before September we will NOT be allowed graduate this year and we will be forced to repeat the module in the next academic year.
Many students are very fearful and stressed. Can you blame us though? We have being working very hard to get to where we are today, we have already suffered due to Covid and now this. It’s not on. How can someone/ CORU tell a student that because of a global pandemic that you are not allowed to graduate. We students have rights and should be treated fairly. Many of us work summer jobs to try fund for ourselves while others have kids/families they’ve to fund for also. We students are being left in the dark and it’s not just AIT social care students it’s every social care course in Ireland.
We are being left in the dark. We want change.
