ARTIST Gemma Cowen has given her social media followers a glimpse into her final hours before becoming a married woman.
The Offaly native shared a series of photographs on her Instagram account on Saturday morning from “The Night Before” her wedding to All-Star Limerick hurler William O’Donoghue.
The bride-to-be stepped out on Thursday night in a stunning vintage-inspired ivory satin gown, featuring cascading ruffles framing the neckline and back, and a flowing, floor-length silhouette.

In a nod to the autumn season, William opted for warm brown and neutral tones, pairing a chestnut-brown sweater with beige slacks.
Among the photographs in the album was a gorgeous snap of Gemma with her mum, Mary.

Gemma’s dad, MEP Barry Cowen, was a proud man the following day as he watched his daughter marry Na Piarsaigh hurler William, whom he described as an “esteemed” Limerick hurler in Brussels last week.
The popular couple chose the Cashel Palace Hotel in County Tipperary as the setting for their wedding reception. Many of William’s teammates and their partners took to social media to share photographs from the glamorous celebrations at the five-star luxury country house hotel.
Among them was Kyle Hayes. The Kildimo-Pallaskenry clubman penned “Congrats brother” while tagging his teammate in a photograph of the pair alongside teammate Darragh O’Donovan and his Doon clubmate, former Limerick hurler Pat Ryan.

A graduate of the Limerick School of Art and Design, Gemma holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. She initially began her career in fashion before turning her attention to painting, with her art business, Gemma Cowen Fine Art, going from strength to strength in recent years.
“Through each piece I explore the interplay of texture, movement and memory. I invite you to experience the magic of your own memories and dreams through art,” she states on her website.
William, meanwhile, is co-founder, alongside his sister Kylie O’Donoghue, of FemFuelz, a range of sports nutrition products for women.
