TWELVE sports and community clubs in Limerick are set to receive €508,722 funding, it has been confirmed.

This funding has been allocated via the CLÁR Programme, aimed at small-scale infrastructure projects in rural Ireland.

Minister Patrick O’Donovan TD described the allocation as “excellent news for Limerick” and said it is “a real endorsement of the great work being done by local groups here”.

“The projects receiving this funding will provide long-lasting benefits, improving key amenities and ensuring that communities across Limerick continue to flourish,” Minister O’Donovan said.

Six of the 12 groups in Limerick have been allocated the highest funding of €50,000. They are: Killeedy Eco Park, Glenroe GAA, Mountcollins GAA, Kilbehenny NS, Ashford Hall Group and Ballylanders GAA.

Other projects allocated money under CLÁR are Gaeltee Gaels, Athea GAA, Tournafulla NS, Cappamore Development, Angleboro Community Centre and Kilfinane Community Projects.placeholder image

“From enhancing community spaces to upgrading local infrastructure, this funding will help create better environments for people to come together, whether it’s for sports, cultural events, or simply to enjoy time in shared spaces,” Minister O’Donovan continued.

“The social and economic impact of this kind of funding on communities all across Limerick cannot be understated. Our local centres, clubs, and public spaces are essential hubs of activity, and this investment will help to breathe new life into them, ensuring they remain vibrant and accessible for all.”

Saying that the programme is about providing facilities that are “fit for the future”, he said it “also reflects the dedication of our local groups and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to push these projects forward”.

“The commitment within Fine Gael to supporting communities like those in County Limerick has been instrumental in making these projects a reality and ensuring that County Limerick remains a great place to live, work, and visit,” Minister O’Donovan concluded.
