TWO ENERGETIC acts will play in a unique venue in the heart of Limerick this week.

Ten Past Seven and Sweets will play The Record Room in The Commercial on Friday, April 14.

Ten Past Seven are an instrumental rock band that emerged from the primordial bogs of Co Kerry in 2022, made up of bassist Matt Shallow, drummer Ger Mangan and guitarist Rory O’Brien.

Ever since, they’ve charted their own unique journey through the math rock/bog pro/alternative music scene. So far, the band have released two full length albums, two EPS and one single.

Their debut album, ‘Shut Up Your Face’ was released in 2006 by the independent record label, Out On A Limb Records. Their second full length record ‘Long Live the Bogwalrus’ was released in 2020, through Art For Blind Records.

Over the years, they have become known for their energetic live shows and for their detailed approach to music. They toured Ireland, the UK and Europe, and shared stages with the likes of Lightning Bolt, Zu, Deerhood and Pelican.

Hailing from the Treaty City, Sweets features members of much-loved acts Tooth, Giveamanakick, Windings, as well as Japanese Jesus.

With roots entrenched in the city’s prolific music scene, they have so far released two singles.

Before colliding with guitarist Keith Lawler and bassist Bertie Kelly, guitarist and vocalist Liam Marley and drummer Lorcan Bourke had been writing songs for over ten years. In 2021, they formed Sweets, an alternative rock band.

Their debut single ‘Charm Offensive’ received a brilliant reaction from the public. With soaring vocals and intense riffs, their second single, was released earlier this year.

As they plan to release a number of singles throughout the year and hope to have an album ready by the end of 2023, things are looking bright for the Limerick quartet.
