INVESIGATIONS are continuing after two vehicles were set alight in one night in a Limerick town.

A garda spokesperson confirmed gardaí attended an incident involving a vehicle on fire in the Deebert area of Kilmallock, at around 10.15pm on Sunday, August 20. Personnel from Kilmallock fire station also responded within minutes.

The Limerick Leader / Limerick Live understands a second vehicle was set ablaze in nearby Riverview.

Cllr PJ Carey said the burning of two cars is totally unacceptable.

“This and other recent anti-social behaviour should not be tolerated in a civilised society.

“The anti-social behaviour in every town and village in lreland has become so prevalent as to be entirely normalised,” said Cllr Carey, who commended gardai and local firefighters.

“Our Government has completely lost its focus on law and order. People are entitled to the full protection of the law. The courts need to impose appropriate sentences, not juvenile diversion, suspended sentences, early release, concurrent sentences etc.” he said.
