WATCH: Rapturous welcome at Limerick school for newly-crowned All-Ireland Champions
A SEA of red greeted the All-Ireland intermediate hurling champions as they entered the gates of Monaleen National School this Monday afternoon - 48 hours after beating Mayo’s Toreen in a nail-biting final.
After a stellar display on the hallowed ground of Croke Park, the team and management enjoyed every moment of the celebrations with the future stars of the club.
Man of the Match, Donnacha Ó Dálaigh, scored 5 points from play to help his side secure Limericks first ever Intermediate Club title, relished in the homecoming hype.

Manager Eoin Brislane commented on an “incredible” few days since the final whistle blew on Saturday evening.
“I don’t think we realised how much support we had in Monaleen, we had a big cheer coming out on the field on Saturday night, in the last ten minutes when pressure was on, we could really hear the crowd get behind us and it made a big difference” he told Limerick Live.
The Mayor of Limerick City and County, Cllr Francis Foley, has congratulated the team and will host a reception for them in City Hall at a later date.
“Monaleen’s historic win on Saturday night is a credit to the team, the panel and all the management” Cllr Foley commented.
“The second half showed the heart and determination within the group and they represented Limerick with aplomb. We will never take days like these for granted in Limerick and it is great to see club sides, like Monaleen, continue that winning habit that Limerick hurling seems to have at the moment.
“I look forward to welcoming Eoin Brislane, his backroom team and the entire Monaleen panel to City Hall in the future for a reception” he concluded.
