Permission granted for the development in Grangemockler with revised conditions

An Coimisiún Pleanála has given planning permission to Uisce Eireann for a new wastewater treatment plant in Grangemockler.

Tipperary County Council had approved planning permission for the construction of the integrated wetland type waste water treatment plant in the townlands of Grangemockler, Currasilla Lower and Bleenaleen Lower, Grangemockler on August 7.

The decision was appealed by a number of local residents on August 29. The exclusion of key community infrastructure along the N76 and Mill Road including St Mary’s Church, Grangemockler NS and Cardinal Browne Community Centre along with individual homes and businesses from the treatment plant’s catchment area was highlighted in public submissions made to Tipperary County Council during the planning application process.

Earlier this month, An Coimisiún Pleanála granted permission for the development with revised conditions. It stated that the submissions made and the Inspector’s report were considered at a meeting held on February 9.

Following that meeting, the Commission decided to grant permission generally in accordance with the recommendations of the inspector, subject to conditions.

Uisce Eireann was granted 10 years permission for an Integrated Constructed Wetland type wastewater treatment plant for the treatment of wastewater from the Grangemockler agglomeration comprising of one septic tank and four ICW ponds and provision of a new terminal wastewater pumping station and stormwater management at the site of the existing Slievardagh Estate Developer Provided Infrastructure (DPI) WWTP, which is to be decommissioned
