BUDGET 2025: ‘Huge waiting lists remain’ says former Tipperary TD

The former TD has called yesterday's budget announcement "a barefaced attempt to buy the upcoming General Election with our own money."
The former Tipperary TD Seamus Healy has criticised yesterday's budget 2025 announcement saying "There is little or no strategic planning in the budget."
ASSESSMENTS
Healy commented that the government has failed children with additional needs and their families with this budget. Many have been calling for the government to provide funding to help tackle the long waiting lists for the 11,500 children waiting on Assessments of Needs. The current government are currently breaking the law by not meeting these assessments within the six month legal time limit. Some children are currently waiting over two years for their needs to be assessed.
SCHOOL PLACES
There are no provisions for extra school places says Healy. "We still have children with no school places and hundreds with inappropriate school places. Huge waiting lists remain for therapy services and residential and day services for children transitioning to adulthood are almost non-existent."
Healy also criticised the lack of provisions in yesterday's budget for more funding to build social and affordable housing.
