Call for support for mother and baby home memorial in Tipperary

The Cathaoirleach of the Thurles-Templemore Municipal District Council has sought support for a memorial for the survivors of the mother and baby home in Roscrea.
Cllr Smith said that memorialisation was a recommendation of the 2021 mother and baby home report.
“It’s high time now as we approve a new budget, and it should come from this district in relation to Sean Ross Abbey,” said Cllr Smith.
Cllr Smith said they should look at a plan in early 2025 that recognises the survivours and their families in a “sensitive and responsible way.”
Cllr Eddie Moran seconded the proposal and Cllr Sean Ryan said he fully supported the call.
