Calls in Tipperary for the media to be allowed to cover Strategic Policy Committees

Cllr John Carroll made the request at a recent sitting of Tipperary County Council
A Nenagh councillor has called for Strategic Policy Committees to be covered by the media.
At a recent full sitting of the Tipperary County Council, Cllr John Carroll said good work happens at the meetings and the public should see that.
Senior Executive Officer Ger Walsh said this is something that will be looked at in December as part of the Corporate Draft Plan.
The Strategic Policy Committees or SPCs are subgroups of the council that advise on policy development.
They are made up of elected councillors, representatives of business, farming interests, environmental/conservation groups, trade unions and community and voluntary members.
There are six SPCs in Tipperary and those are: Economic Development and Enterprise, Housing, Infrastructure (to include Roads, Transportation and Water Services), Planning and Emergency Services, Environment and Climate Action and Community, Culture and Library Services.
Currently, the media is not allowed to cover the meetings.
