Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society to stage 9 to 5: The Musical as its annual show in 2024

Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society has chosen 9 to 5: The Musical for its annual show next year.

The Society has opted for this fun comedy based on country star Dolly Parton’s music and lyrics as a change of direction after staging two big name shows with serious themes over the past two years, namely Chess and Phantom of the Opera.

Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society PRO Caolan Deehy-Power said the Society has secured the rights to 9 to 5: The Musical, which is based on the hit 1980 film of the same name.

Auditions for the show will take place in January and the musical will be staged next spring.

Meanwhile, the 92-strong cast of Carrick Musical Society’s annual Halloween panto – Rapunzel Untangled – are this week putting the finishing touches on the show that opens at the Strand Theatre next Wednesday, October 25 and runs until Sunday, October 29.

The show, written by Conor and Sandra Power, stars Camille Walsh as Rapunzel with James Dowley as the panto dame Mrs Browne and Tarryn Attlee as the evil Mother Gothel.

A large contingent of young singers and dancers from Carrick Musical Society’s Academy of Performing Arts will also be performing in the panto.

Mr Deehy-Power says the demand for tickets has been very high and advised people intending to go to the show to book their tickets as soon as possible.

Tickets cost €15 and can be purchased online via: www.ticketsource.eu/strand
