Carrick-on-Suir’s St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has already started planning for next year’s pageant and is  on the hunt for imaginative floats with topical themes for the 2024 event.

The committee  met last week to review this year’s parade and come up with ideas on how to improve the town’s celebration of our national patron saint’s day.

Parade Committee member Cllr David Dunne said they received tremendous public feedback about the parade, which had to contend with bad weather and also the extensive N24 road works in part of the town centre.

He thanked all the community, sporting, music, cultural and educational organisations and local businesses that took part.

“We are looking for the same response if not better next year. We are appealing for more groups and organisations to get involved and for people to use their imaginations when it comes to floats.”

Cllr Dunne, who is Cathaoirleach of Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District, said the committee is also appealing to the town’s businesses to support the parade. “The local pubs and chippers do well from the parade. If they support us, we can support them,” he said.
