Funding must be identified for security in the Cathedral Town, hears the Municipal District

Councillor Jim Ryan forwarded a notice of motion:"Due to the recent and worrying increase in the attacks on female walkers and joggers, I am calling on this District council to install CCTV cameras and public lighting in all our parks and walkways.”

Management responded: "The design of a town centre CCTV Project for Thurles has been prepared by J&N Security. A quotation for the scope of the project has also been estimated by J&N Security.

“As funding for CCTV projects is not eligible for an application under URDF and RRDF, funding for the capital expenditure element of the project, along with ongoing maintenance costs of the scheme, must now be identified."
