'Driving up by Circle K 24-hour service station my vehicle was struck with an egg.'

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

On the night of January 25 at 1.40am, I had to go to Cashel Garda Station to report criminal damage (garda's words) to my vehicle.

Driving up by Circle K 24-hour service station my vehicle was struck with an egg. When I got to the Garda Station that night, another driver arrived to report a similar incident.

Unfortunately for the culprits, who will surely end up with "egg on their faces", this driver followed them, capturing the vehicle registration with their dash cam.

The roads were very bad, ice everywhere, whoever you are, you've fallen foul of local law enforcement.

Back at the Circle K, I met the same two garda I spoke with, out in pursuit of the culprits, who had by this time scrambled.

Our diligent duo were requesting footage from Circle K, "they may have bought the eggs there" I was informed, and I do believe Circle K in Cashel have top-end security cameras.

So, while Batman and Robin sped off in the patrol car, I remained on to frantically clean-off the egg that had battered my entire drivers side door and window, it was everywhere…

I tell you this because, the driver whose brand new 4x4 was covered in egg-trails informed me that raw egg damages paint work similar to what acid can do, it will be a costly night of thrill-seeking for the driver of the vehicle featured on that dash-cam.

Kudos to those two staff members working at Circle K for being so kind, giving me hot water and cloths to clean the car, and also the two garda who seemed very intent on carrying out their investigations.

Think on this whoever you are, had there been elderly people in the cars you hit last night, roads riddled with black-ice, what would have been the outcome?

Unfortunately for our egg wielding bandits this matter will not end "sunny side up"…
