Ronan Maher (Thurles Sarsfields) Just like his brother, this man has also become a regular feature of this team and he had another excellent outing in victory over Kiladangan. He mopped up ball all day, particularly in the second half, and while he can leave you frustrated with some of the wides he has a habit of hitting, he will always put himself into the thick of play and continues to improve. If he stays going at his current level, he could end up surpassing his brothers ability, which is a frightening thought for anyone in opposition!

Use the Next > above to go through the team 7. Alan Flynn (Kiladangan) A disappointing defeat for Kiladangan was the outcome after the weekend, but they didn't relinquish their title without a fight and no one epitomised the effort like Alan Flynn. He hit a mountain of ball and had several driving runs forward which set up attacks and is a general bundle of energy. He was taken for 1-2 by Conor Stakelum but he was still extremely prominent and is a real leader for his club.

Use the Next > above to go through the team 8. Ciaran Connolly (Loughmore Castleiney) The fulcrum of the Loughmore effort comes from their work rate and this man is the player which sets the standard and he was a big reason for the second half performance for his team. There are few players as fit and athletic in the club game at the moment and Connolly is the link between defence and attack and was colossal on Sunday, with his point in the second half an inspirational one after a brilliant James McCormack save. He is the type of player pre-packaged and ready for the modern game and might be worth looking at for Tipp in the coming months.

Michael Cahill (Thurles Sarsfields) Cahill is a man reborn and his new role at midfield is really bringing out the best in the All-Ireland winning corner-back. While the pace might be gone, the hurling brain is still very much operating at full capacity for Cahill as he was a big influence on the game last Saturday. He was all over the pitch and does the simple things so well, setting up attack after attack while always being the outlet for the defence to distribute to. His performances have been a real plus for Sars this year.
