Fine Gael's Phyll Bugler was elected to the position at the Nenagh district AGM

Cllr Phyll Bugler was elected Cathaoirleach of the Nenagh Municipal District at the annual meeting of the district councillors, held on Thursday 19 June.

She replaces Cllr Fiona Bonfield who held the position for the duration of the year since the county council elections in 2024.

Cllr Bugler was proposed by Cllr JP O'Meara and seconded by Cllr John Carroll.

"My focus will be on business and tourism, particularly in developing the Hidden Heartlands. We see how much tourism the Wild Atlantic Way is getting and we need to try and bring that tourism to the Hidden Heartlands."

She thanked her proposer and seconder as well as the other district councillors, whom she said she looks forward to continuing working successfully alongside in the coming year.

Kilbarron-based Independent Cllr Joe Hannigan was elected Leas Cathaoirleach for the Nenagh district.
