Former Tipperary school students promote inclusivity in education

A new online start-up secondary education company is the brainchild of two Tipperary women.

Founded by Eva Danaher from Toem, Cappawhite and Emma Corbett from Clonmel, Educating Éire’s main aim is to reduce any socio-economic barriers to education and ensure inclusivity in the education space.

It recently hosted an online information evening and has numerous free products and services, including free resources for Ukrainian students living in Ireland.

“We founded this start-up as we have seen many barriers to entry to secondary level education, such as the high cost of private tuition, geographical disadvantages, scarce availability of supports for students with additional needs, and to provide free educational resources to Ukrainian secondary school students in Ireland,” say Eva and Emma.

Eva attended St Anne’s Secondary School in Tipperary Town and is now a dentist in Carrick-on-Suir, while Emma attended Loreto Secondary School in Clonmel.

The multitude of services offered by Educating Eire include live weekly classes, career guidance, study skills, webinars, free materials, H1-style notes and prerecorded video courses.

“Our inspiration behind this has definitely come from our love of STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects, our passion for education and personal experience in the education space,” says Emma Corbett.

“The reason why Educating Éire is online is to reach people who can’t necessarily travel or don’t have services available right at their doorstep.

“Educating Éire brings Ireland’s best tutors across all subjects together, so that every educational need can be met in the one place.

“It is a one-stop shop.

“To be able to play a role in young people’s lives, and encourage the next generation is both an honour and a task we take very seriously at Educating Éire,” she says.
