Funding to two Tipperary community groups from proceeds of Tipperary Music Festival

The Tipperary Music Festival, which was held in May of this year, has made presentations to two local organisations from the proceeds of their festival.
At a function in the Porter House, Bank Place, Tipperary, on Wednesday, August 3, cheques for €1,500 and for €500 were presented respectively to the Tipperary Vintage Rally and to the CJ Kickham Band.
Festival Chair, Eamonn Ryan, thanked all involved in organising and running the festival and said that he was delighted to be in a position to assist two organisations with funding.
“On behalf of the Tipperary Town Music Festival Committee I am delighted that we can support two worthy charities from the proceeds of the music festival.
“We got great support from Jack Leonard and his team from the Vintage Rally in the running of the music festival and it is really great that we can give back to them a little of what they have given to us and indeed to the entire town.
“I am delighted to hand over cheques to the Vintage Rally and also to the CJ Kickham Band, who are such a very important part of community life in the town,” said Eamonn.
Rosie Finnan on behalf of the Tipperary Vintage Rally thanked the Tipperary Music Festival for their contribution.
“As you know we organise and run the Tipperary Vintage rally each year and every cent that we receive goes to the South Tipperary Hospice Movement and currently that figure stands at just over €271,000.
“It is an awful lot of money to have raised to date but we could not have done this without our great helpers and supporters and the support from the people of Tipperary Town,” said Rosie. Jack Leonard, Chair of the Vintage Rally, concurred with what Rosie had to say and added: “I have to thank my crew who put in a serious shift during the music festival and this is what it is all about; everybody helping everybody else here in Tipperary Town and that's what makes it worthwhile,” said Jack.
Chair of the CJ Kickham Band, Catriona Crowe, said that they were so appreciative of the contribution from the music festival.
“Every cent that we receive goes back into the Band, into instruments and uniforms which currently need upgrading.
“The money that we are receiving this evening will go into that fund and we are very thankful that the festival thought of us on this occasion. The music festival was the most positive thing that happened in Tipperary Town for a very long time and I would like to say well done to all of the committee.”
Vivienne Kenneally also added her thanks on behalf of the Band.
“We have to repair instruments, we have to replace instruments, we need new uniforms, which have not been replaced for some time because of lack of funding, so this money will greatly assist us in doing that,” said Vivienne.
As to 2024, Music Promoter, John O’Brien, said that they had plans in place for next year.
“We are planning to repeat the festival again in May 2024 and we are in the process of finalising bands for the event. We are going for big again, if not even a bit bigger than this year, and we hope to add some extra attractions to the festival in 2024,” said John. This news will certainly be very well received by the community of Tipperary and much farther afield, and we wish them great success with their plans.
