Funding worth €25,000 awarded to Tipperary Church for maintenance

St. John the Baptist Church in Cashel will receive the funding under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2025
Cashel councillor Declan Burgess has confirmed that funding has been allocated to St. John the Baptist Church on Friar Street in Cashel.
In a statement Cllr Burgess said: “I am delighted to confirm €25,000 awarded to St. John the Baptist Church on Friar Street in Cashel. This funding has been made under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme 2025 from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
“This scheme is administrated through Tipperary County Council to help the owners and custodians of historical buildings to maintain and conserve these important structures.
“I want to express thanks to Fr. Enda Brady, the parish team and all involved in co-ordinating a comprehensive funding application and for all their efforts in raising funds to maintain our beautiful parish church. A lot of hard work goes into this and I was happy to be asked to support this application.”
The church needs serious renovations due to structural damage caused by moisture, which are estimated to cost approximately €600,000. The building is regarded as one of the oldest Catholic churches still in use in Ireland, making it important that it is renovated soon and not allowed to fall into disrepair.
