Amazing!

BALLINGARRY NOTES

A big thank you to everybody who came to Amby’s a few weeks ago for a GAA celebration that was only 61 years late!

This was a presentation of a Minor South Championship Medal to Anthony Cleary.

Anthony moved to our club when he was 10 after the tragic loss of his mother.

He lived and played hurling in our parish for many years before moving back to his native Laois before he could be awarded with his South Championship medal.

Thank you to Sean Ivors, his former team mate and captain of the winning team, who was there on the night to present the medal to Anthony.

Thank you to Peader, for organising a fantastic evening and enlightening everybody who was there on Anthony’s life and his story and for re-uniting Anthony with his well-earned medal, even if it was 61 years late.

Also thank you to Martin Burke for gifting us with a book including the newspaper articles from around that time.

Better late than never!
