Is this the worst road in Tipperary? Funding has been secured for improvement works on several north Tipperary roads.

Outgoing Cllr Fiona Bonfield said: "I'm glad to report that another €100,000 will be allocated to the R503 Regional Road between Newport and Rearcross for resurfacing works this year.

"That's a total of €192,000 to be spent this year, with works to be carried out at Reardnogymore and also at Knockane in Newport. I want to thank the roads engineers and District and Area enginner for supporting this call.

"Further works will be carried out on this road as part of the New Three Years Road Programme which will be finalised in September.

"I'm also hopeful that some remedial works will be carried out on a section of the Crannahurt/Errinagh Road in Capparoe in the Silvermines later on in the year. The remainder of this road will also be included in the New Three Year Road Programme.

"I have also been advised that the Ahane Road in Newport, Cully Road and also the Black Road out towards Freagh will be considered in the New Three Years Programme."
