The Parish Priest for St John the Baptist church in Cashel previously told Tipperary Live that serious renovations were needed due to moisture.

Funding of €10,000 has been awarded to St John the Baptist Church on Friar Street, Cashel, to support essential conservation works to external walls of the building.

The funding has been approved under the Built Heritage Investment Scheme, administered by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and delivered locally through Tipperary County Council.

The scheme is designed to assist owners and custodians of protected structures and historic buildings in carrying out vital maintenance and conservation works, helping to safeguard Ireland’s built heritage for future generations.

Welcoming the allocation, Fine Gael Cllr Declan Burgess expressed appreciation to Fr Enda Brady, the parish team and all those involved in preparing a comprehensive and successful funding application.

"I want to express thanks to Fr Enda Brady, the parish team and all involved in co-ordinating a comprehensive funding application and for all their efforts in raising funds to maintain our beautiful parish church.

"A lot of hard work goes into this and I was happy to be asked to support this application," said Cllr Burgess.
