Something will have to be done about people spreading “muck and sh*t” on country roads, Cllr Joe Hannigan told the February meeting of Nenagh Municipal District Council.

“It is totally disrespectful. Let’s call a spade a spade,” he told the meeting.

He was supported by Cllr Michael O’Meara who said that any professional contractor would do the job properly. It is as easy to do it right as to do it wrong,” he said.

District senior engineer Barry Murphy agreed that some of the muck that is left on the road was due to a “blatant disregard”.

He said that it was his understanding that if there was an accident then the individual responsible was liable.
