Congratulations Martin!

Martin Ryan was named the Germinal Responsible Dairy Grassland Manager of the year at the National Dairy Awards event held in the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise.

Martin has been farming in Nodstown, Boherlahan with his wife Aine since 2017.

Commenting on his entry the competition, the judges said: “It was a very impressive entry showing great care and consideration for soil, grass and livestock.”

Having been involved in farming land in Hollyford and Sologhead, Martin says the drier land in Nodstown can bring its own problems, especially in dry weather.

He has fine-tuned his grassland management practices over years to combat the challenges that environmental conditions throw at him.

Through reseeding, different grassland swards and new techniques, he is constantly making changes to the grass system.
