Long-awaited debut album from Tipperary musician set to release later this month

James McGrath’s debut album ‘Can’t Get Out’ will launch in The Kenyon bar
Nenagh musician James McGrath is set to release his long-awaited debut album later this month.
'Can't Get Out' is the product of James' almost 20 year long journey in music. Since starting out in local Nenagh band 'Blue Box Duvet', James has gone on to become renowned for writing and performing his own music not just locally but on a national and even international scale.
James recently travelled to the USA to record music in Tennessee and Florida but the new album was recorded locally in Tipperary with Peter Maher of Middlewalk Studios in Cloughjordan. The album artwork was photographed by Tipperary photographer Selina O'Meara.
The 12-track album will be released by US label Shamrock Records, it's title ‘Can't Get Out’ references James' song about “drinking, smoking, gambling, women, religion and more the sheer ups and downs of life in the heart of town”.
A launch party for the album is set to take place in The Kenyon bar in Nenagh on Saturday August 24. James will perform on the launch night with support from Portroe musician Eddie Lawlor.
Doors open at 8.30pm and pre-sale tickets (€15) are already available on Eventbrite. Additional tickets may be available on the door.
