'Ned is remembered in Ballingarry for his exploits on the GAA front in the early 1960s'

BALLINGARRY NOTES
We extend our sincere sympathy to the Brett family, Mullinahone, on the death of Edmond (Ned) Brett, Brett's Hardware, Mullinahone on November 10 after a short illness in the exceptional Care of the staff of South Tipperary General Hospital and ICU Waterford University Hospital.
He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Teckie, daughter Roisin, sons Adrian and Ronan and his extended family.
Ned is well remembered in Ballingarry for his exploits on the GAA front in the early 1960s.
In 1960, Ned played with Ballingarry when they beat a fancied St Mary’s team in the South Tipp.
Minor hurling final at Fethard
In the county semi-final they beat Glengoole by 2-8 to 1-2.
In the county final they drew with the great Roscrea team.
The replay was played in Templemore, where Roscrea won their third county final in a row by a mere two points in a very exciting game.
Two years later Ned won another South title with Ballingarry, but sadly were beaten by Na Fianna (Templemore) in the county semi-final.
In 1963, Ballingarry and Mullinahone joined to form Knocknagow senior hurling team and Ned was a member of that team, but they were beaten by a strong Killenaule team in the first round, in which Tom Ryan, Tipperary senior hurler, gave an exhibition on the day by scoring 6-2.
Thanks for the memories Ned.
