Sinead Carr said she was honoured and privileged to be appointed to the role of county manager for Tipperary
Sinead Carr takes over at the helm of Tipperary County Council following her appointment as the new county manager which elected members ratified at a special meeting held in Clonmel.
Looking forward to taking on the challenge Sinead Carr said among her priorities would be giving the nine main towns in the county a new function and purpose, tackling dereliction in those towns and driving on the continued economic growth of the county.
The new county manager who has had a distinguished career in local government also spoke about her determination for the authority to address the pressing problem of housing throughout the county. She wanted to see progress made on the provision of affordable housing and private housing.
A native of Athlone, Sinead Carr has lived in county Tipperary outside Knockavilla since she took up a post in South Tipperary County Council as an executive planner in 2021. By the end of 2002 she was appointed as Director of Services and since has taken on responsibilities in that role for enterprise and economic development, community development, planning and housing.
Prior to taking on the role of county manager Sinead Carr held the position of Director of Services for Housing for Tipperary County Council with responsibility for the town of Clonmel and in the last month, she took on the role of acting county manager following the retirement of Joe MacGrath as county manager.
“In his role as county manager Joe MacGrath left a very strong platform and I want to build on that,” said Sinead Carr.
“I have been in Tipperary for nearly 24 years. I have a very good knowledge of the county and we are blessed to have very good staff and a functional and progressive chamber,” said Sinead Carr.
The new county manager said she was honoured to take on the role of county manager in Tipperary.
“It is a privilege and a tremendous honour for me to be given the opportunity to work as county manager in Tipperary and to continue the good work that has been carried out in the county," she said.
