New housing schemes in Tipperary opened by Minister Darragh O' Brien

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien
TD, today officially marked the opening of 5 new housing schemes
throughout county Tipperary.
Housing schemes in Clonmel,Two-Mile-Borris and Templetuohy, totalling 98 number homes (9 units
developed by Cluid Housing Association in partnership with TCC) were officially opened.
The schemes are all carried out to a very high standard and consist of a
range of house type and bedroom sizes all of which are constructed in
accordance with the principle of Universal Design.
The “A” Rated dwellings provide a secure and energy efficient home for life and all residents who
have made the move are delighted with their new homes and their new
communities.
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh
O’Brien TD said: “it is a privilege to be here today to officially open
these news homes in Clonmel, Two-Mile-Borris; Templetuohy. I
understand that Glenconnor Hill was Tipperary County Councils first major
housing development in the county in over 20 years and it is a credit to
all that the design standard was such that it was awarded a “Community
Housing Public Choice Awards” by the Irish Council for Social Housing in
2021. I would like to commend Tipperary County Council for their hard
work in producing these beautiful, well-designed houses, and wish all of
the tenants every happiness and health in their forever homes. Housing
for All is our plan to ensure that there are many many more schemes like
the ones I have visited in Tipperary today. I intend to continue to work
closely with Tipperary County Council and other partners in supporting
them to deliver on the Government’s housing targets for the county.”
Cathaoirleach of Tipperary County Council, Cllr. Roger Kennedy,
commented at the launch, “I would like to thank The Minister and his
officials in the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage for
their commitment to providing the necessary funding and supports that
enables the delivery of such homes in the county. The Council is
ambitious to deliver 1,125 new social housing units by the end of 2026
and I am happy to confirm that we are well on target to deliver this number within this timeframe. The delivery of this target, with the Minister’s on-going support, will make a very significant difference to the
quality of life of those who are currently on our waiting list.”
Chief Executive of Tipperary County Council, Joe MacGrath, stated,
“I am delighted to welcome Minister O’Brien here to the county to see at
first hand a sample of the quality and quantity of housing units that are
being delivered by Tipperary County Council over the last couple of years.
I can assure the Minister that by working together, we will meet the
housing needs in the County as set out in Housing For All Plan. Tipperary
County Council is committed to building sustainable communities that
continue to be great places to live, long into the future. We welcome our
new residents and wish them every happiness for the future.”
