Night-time water restriction in place in parts of Tipperary served by Ardfinnan Supply Scheme
Uisce Éireann customers in Poulmucka, Ballyclerihan, Red City, Barrettstown and surrounding areas are affected by water supply disruption
Uisce Éireann says it is working to restore normal supply to all customers served by the Ardfinnan Water Supply Scheme.
Work has been carried out to repair leaks on the network but some customers will continue to experience low pressure and intermittent supply while reservoir levels recover.
Areas impacted include: Poulmucka, Ballyclerihan, Red City, Barrettstown and surrounding areas.
In order to assist in the recovery of reservoir level in network reservoir at Jamestown, it is necessary to have night time restrictions tonight, (Friday, May 31) from 10pm until 7am.
Customers in the following areas will be impacted by this restriction tonight: Rathkeevin, Ballingarrane, Gortmore, Giantsgrave, Rathnasliggeen, Chancellorstown and surrounding areas.
Uisce Éireann’s Operations Lead Colin Cunningham said: “Leak detection and repair teams have been working in the area, and further works were undertaken today. We’re monitoring water levels in the reservoir.
"However restrictions are necessary to help the reservoir level recovery. We anticipate customers will see normal supply returning over the weekend. An alternative water supply will remain in place until normal supply is returned to all areas. We would like to thank the local community for their patience as we carry out such repairs. Details of planned and unplanned outages are available on the Uisce Éireann website, www.water.ie where customers can enter their address to get localised updates.
To support customers, Uisce Éireann has arranged an alternative water supply to be made available adjacent to Poulmucka village.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice.
Following repair works, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to fully restore to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network. Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Uisce Éireann continues to provide detailed, real-time, and local information about water service and supply issues on www.water.ie
The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and updates are also issued via Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) @IWCare.
