'Overwhelming number of houses go on the Choice-Based Letting system' say Tipperary housing officer
Councillor Noel Coonan has questioned the number of homes appearing on the council's Choice-Based Letting system.
At last week's sitting of the Thurles-Templemore Municipal District, Cllr Coonan acknowledged the work of the housing section.
But, he said housing is a huge crisis and questioned the number of vacant houses and the council’s turnaround time.
“Families are frustrated trying to get houses,” said Cllr Coonan.
Housing Officer Shane Grogan said that not all of the houses available are put on the CBL system.
He said the council reserve some for vulnerable clients that may not be able to use the portal.
However, he said: “Normally, the overwhelming number of houses go the CBL.”
