Planning for 50-space carpark sought for Tipperary village

Representatives for the village of Faugheen have lodged plans with the council
Planning permission is being sought in Faugheen near Carrick-on-Suir for a car park for fifty cars, to serve the local St Patrick’s Catholic church.
On a site of about a quarter of a hectare, there are plans for new public lighting for the carpark, and consultants for the applicants, Faugheen Ahenny Clashnasmut Enhancement & Development Company, say there is appropriate drainage at the site.
They also include a provision for EV charging points in the carpark, which will be tendered for separately should planning be approved.
“The land’s natural gradient facilitates efficient surface water drainage. Strategic use of chain and bollard fencing ensures excellent sight lines throughout the area. The proposed designs are consistent with the village’s established aesthetic”.
The need for the parking spaces, say the consultants, is to improve accessibility and safety for residents, parishioners, and visitors.
“The development will offer safe, off-road, well-lit parking for daily use as well as for special occasions such as weddings, funerals, and christenings”.
