Plans underway to remove clothes bins from Tipperary villages due to budget constraints

Tipperary County Council have begun plans to remove all clothes bins around Tipperary and bring them to the five civic amenity sites around the county.
Clothes bins in Tipperary will be moved from villages to Tipperary’s five amenity sites, the council has said.
The environment section published the news in its recent report, which was read at the monthly meeting of all Tipperary County Council members at the beginning of June.
Addressing members of the environment section of the council, Cllr Máirín McGrath stated “I have always had issues with clothes bins and the irregular collection of items and the dumping around them, so in one sense I welcome it. However, I do have some concerns about it.
"There’s no civic amenity centre in the Cahir area, it’s something that I’ve long asked for. That’s one issue. It’s the ability for people to get to civic amenity centres. Secondly, the incidences now of illegal dumping that might take place or the rogue operations that were in place before the council actually got into this industry.
"I’m just concerned about the unintended consequences that this could bring. All we wanted was more regular collections and now it’s coming out of these towns and villages, so I am concerned." Cllr McGrath concluded.

The environment section of the council responded saying the decision hadn’t been an easy choice, we don’t like cutting a service. “It’s simply a budget matter now and we don’t have a choice.” a member of the environment section concluded.
