Plenty of new faces in Tipp senior hurling team to face Waterford this Sunday

The Tipperary team to face Waterford in the first competitive action of 2024 for the Premier has been announced, and there are a raft of new faces set to make their first senior appearances for the county.

Several players have been rewarded for good club campaigns in 2023 with Conor Whelan and Mikey O'Shea of Mullinahone making their first starts at this level along with Sean Hayes who impressed in Kiladangan's run to county glory recently.

JK Brackens' Andrew Ormond is also a notable addition and was a firm favourite and regular on manager Liam Cahill's underage teams, while Danny Slattery of Clonoulty Rossmore gets his chance after a very good U20 campaign in the blue and gold in 2023.

The inclusion of Conor Bowe at wingback is an interesting feature of the team, while there has been a call back onto this year's panel for Portroe's Robert Byrne who slots in at centre-back for Sunday's game.
