Prestigious award for a Tipperary Tidy Towns group that carry out amazing work

Cahir Tidy Towns
Congratulations to Cahir Tidy Towns for scooping the Waters and Communities Award at the recent South East Regional Awards of the 2024 SuperValu TidyTowns Ireland Competition. LAWPRO Community Water Officer David Rafter presented the well-deserved award to the group alongside Minister Timmy Dooley TD. A much deserved award for a hardworking team and well done to all involved.
It’s that time of year again and we are asking all residents associations and street groups to carry out a spring clean to help us out. Just send us your pictures when you do it as it suits different groups on different days. Why not make it a monthly or bi monthly date for the summer to help keep Cahir tidy during judging season. We wish the best of luck to everyone for the 2025 judging season.
We have introduced something new and educational along the Swiss Walk at the start of the walk from Cahir House Hotel side. Bring the kids along to see the beautiful pictures and painting and see if they can identify any of the insects on the walk. The names can be seen in English and Irish and you everyone can learn about the different varieties of plants too.
Thanks to everyone involved in this project including Tipp County Council, TúS, Cahir Development Association and of course our own Tidy Towns members. This Biodiversity Wall is worth a visit if you are planning a nature walk or school day out in Cahir and is accessible to all.
A new flower bed was planted last week on the Ardfinnan Road that compliments the flower bed on the opposite side by Cahir Park. These beds and the new footpaths make the Ardfinnan road entrance to Cahir a much nicer sight.
Please note - we ask walkers/hikers to beware when walking the mountain trails at the moment.
There are reports of ticks on sheep and there is the chance of ticks passing onto dogs and walkers, so do a few checks and keep dogs on leads.
Meet 7pm Wednesday evening at the market yard for weeding if anyone at a loose end.
