The public have given their opinions to the Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District

More than 2,000 submissions have been received as part of a public consultation on the future use of the long-vacant Goldcrop site in Carrick-on-Suir.

The 2.7-acre site, which has stood derelict for several years, was purchased by Tipperary County Council in 2022. A public consultation was launched last month to gather local views on how the land should be developed.

At the July meeting of the Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District, councillors were told that feedback had been received from over 2,000 people, both through online submissions and physical forms.

The consultation is part of a wider Riverside Regeneration Project for the town, with Reddy Architecture + Urbanism appointed to carry out a feasibility study on future development options.

The regeneration initiative is being co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union’s Just Transition Fund, which aims to revitalise communities across eight counties in Ireland’s Hidden Heartlands and Ireland’s Ancient East by growing tourism and creating new local employment.
