REACTION: 'I feel elated,' Peggy Ryan on being elected in Thurles
Peggy Ryan was elected on the fourth count with 1,640 votes
Fine Gael's Peggy Ryan took the final seat in Thurles.
This means she retains her seat on the council.
Ms Ryan took over from her brother Peter in December 2021 and six months later, she was elected as the district Cathaoirleach and the first woman to hold the position.
So, while this is her first election, she is no newcomer.
Ms Ryan was elected on the fourth count with 1,640 votes.
Her victory was Sinn Fein's Dan Harty's loss.
