The Tipperary Vintage Rally is 15 years in existence and has to date handed over €271,000 to the South Tipperary Hospice Movement through its fundraising activities.
Their latest event raised the staggering sum of €21,834.07, and a cheque for this amount was presented to John O’Heney, representing the South Tipperary Hospice Movement, at a function in the Porter House on Friday, June 30.
Vintage Rally Chairperson, Jack Leonard, thanked everyone associated with raising the funds.
"We couldn’t have done this without the help of the people around Tipperary and surrounding areas who have been excellent to us.
"Something that started off 15 years ago as a once off and to have raised this amount of money is absolutely fantastic and something that I could never have envisaged.
"The Vintage Rally has now decided to have our main yearly event in June during the summer as distinct from Easter and we could not do this without the support of our main sponsor Supermacs, the landowner Liam Hickey and his grandson and Bryan Henry for his fantastic contribution to the recent bike trip around the Burren, county Clare."
In accepting the cheque, John O’Heney representing the South Tipperary Hospice Movement expressed his sincere gratitude to the Vintage Rally group.
“I was absolutely blown away when I saw the sum of money raised, almost €22,000, is a phenomenal sum of money.”
Every single cent that is raised stays in South Tipperary Hospice.
The money raised by the Tipperary Vintage Rally will go towards palliative care beds, costs of therapies, transport costs and much more. The Tipperary Vintage Rally organisers deserve our sincere thanks and appreciation.
