Naas District Court was told that both vehicles were effectively written off

A car finished up on its roof with the "wheels facing towards the sky” having overturned following a road accident, Naas District Court was told.

Valile Muntean, 19, whose address was given as 13 Ashbrook, Derrinturn, Carbury, was prosecuted for alleged dangerous driving on July 31,2026 at Sherlockstown, Sallins.

Sgt Mary Meade outlined that the defendant missed the “stop” sign, which was not obscured by branches.

The court was told the defendant collided sidelong with another car.

Defending solicitor Joe Coonan said the defendant did not intend to cause the impact.

“This was an accident," he said, adding that the insurance company had paid out to the injured parties.

Mr Coonan also said the defendant was very upset as a result of the accident and is very apologetic.

The court heard that both vehicles were effectively written off.

The defendant has no previous convictions.

Judge Desmond Zaidan commented that the defendant was “very lucky no one was killed.”

He said he would not impose a prison sentence and noted he could disqualify him for four years.

He imposed a two year ban and a fine of €500.
