Planning has been lodged to change vacant retail units in Tipperary into apartments.

Double M Investments Ltd. has made the application to Tipperary County Council for a change of use of five existing vacant retail ground floor units within the existing structure.

The development looks to change them to eight residential apartments comprising five two-bedroom units and three three-bedroom units.

It also includes minor external works, limited to fenestration and repositioning of some access points to apartments consistent with the existing character of the building and wider area, internal alterations to facilitate the change of use, separation of existing open space to the west of the subject site to create an area of communal private open space for use of the residents of the eight apartments and all ancillary works necessary to facilitate the development.

The development address is at Riverside Shopping Centre, Shannon Street, Borrisokane.

The council has until July 27 to make its decision.
