“I am delighted to welcome the sanctioning of a special class in Ballyporeen NS on top of the four other schools announced last week, three at post Primary level and one other at Primary Level, St Michael’s Jnr Boys School in Tipperary. These classes are in such demand and I know the additional spaces will come as relief to the many parents seeking special classes for their children for this September and I want to commend the schools for their work in opening these new classes.” Said Deputy McGrath
“I am still working with other Primary Schools in the South Tipperary who have applied to open a class and are awaiting sanction and I hope that further classes will be sanctioned ahead of the new school Year.
“The shortage of appropriate school places has been a huge issue and remains a top priority for me and I am keen to work with the new Minister for Special Education Michael Moynihan TD and the NCSE to push for additional classes in Tipperary. It is certainly positive to see more classes opening and I will continue to work with and support the many families who are waiting for school places and we hope that all children will have an appropriate school placement this September.” Concluded McGrath
